The Pink Idea
To arrange an aerobics class any time in October and raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Campaign with a pink theme throughout. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so it’s the perfect time to help raise awareness and support the cause.
Where do I start?
Check with the manager of the centre where you wish to run the event that it can take place and explain to them how it will operate. Here are some ideas for your event:
- Change a regular exercise class to a Shock Absorber Pink Aerobics and ask for donations, or for members to pay to take part.
- Hold a special extra class, maybe invite a guest instructor along, or extend a class, or team teach with a few instructors so members are happy to pay a bit more.
- Arrange a sponsored aerobathon.
There are benefits to the club too which may encourage them to help you host the event…
- Charity events attract local publicity and your local newspaper and radio station may be interested - this will provide excellent promotion for the club.
- Non-members may like to attend the event and this may be an opportunity to boost membership for the club.
- There will be a prize for the club raising the most money in 2008.
Once you have decided on your class type, date and time, tell us about it and we will advertise the event for you on our website (www.pinkaerobics.com). We will also provide you with posters which you can customise to help promote your event.
Last year the average amount raised by individual clubs was over £900, with many events raising several thousand, so why not set a target of £1000 for your event?!
How do I register?
To register your Shock Absorber Pink Aerobics event you will need to apply for your Pink Pack. The Pink Pack includes:
A PPL licensed Pink Aerobics CD provided by Pure Energy (new for 2008); a 2008 “Shock Absorber Pink Aerobics” t-shirt; posters; information about breast cancer and the work of Breast Cancer Campaign; sponsorship forms; tips on fundraising; details of how members can purchase “Pink Aerobics” merchandise; a press release; balloons; information about Shock Absorber sports bras; FREE goody bag for all your participants.
How much does is cost?
It costs just £25 to register and receive your Pink Pack. This only covers the costs of the pack and we are therefore encouraging you to try and raise an additional £1000 to help support Breast Cancer Campaign. In case you need that little extra incentive there is a great prize for the club that raises the most money for Breast Cancer Campaign in 2008.
About Breast Cancer Campaign

About breast cancer
- Breast cancer is the most common cancer
- Breast cancer accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women
- Every year over 44,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women. This works out as over 3,600 new cases per month, nearly 850 per week and about 120 a day
- Although it is rare, men can also suffer from breast cancer, over 300 men are diagnosed each year
- The incidence of breast cancer has increased by ten per cent in the last five years
Supporting Breast Cancer Campaign
Arranging a Shock Absorber Pink Aerobics event gives you a great opportunity to support Campaign and get involved with a fun fitness activity. As well as being good for your health, regular physical exercise can help prevent weight gain and boost energy levels. This promotes general well being as well as reducing the risk of a number of diseases such as stroke, heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, osteoporosis and breast cancer.
Why a Sports Bra?
You might not know this but three out of four women who exercise regularly do not wear a sports bra. As there are no muscles in the breast - only the Cooper’s Ligaments - exercise places a huge strain on them and causes them to stretch. Once stretched beyond their limit, no amount of toning or exercise will restore the ligaments to what they were.
Not only is irreversible breast sag a problem but exercising with unsupported breasts is painful too! All breasts need support whatever your size. For example, an unsupported A cup breast can move up to 9cm and a G cup can move up to 14cm! By wearing a correctly fitted sports bra you can reduce the risk of the Cooper’s Ligaments stretching as well as being much more supported and comfortable when exercising.
Wearing a Shock Absorber sports bra reduces bounce by up to 74%. And this year we have a limited edition pale pink Shock Absorber B109 available for £26. For each bra sold £2.50 is given to Breast Cancer Campaign. Bras are already available for pre-order at www.pinkaerobics.com
